American Star

Collins has an effective way of dealing with characters who present obstacles to the minimal plot development; she simply kills them off in a highly dramatic fashion.

Synopsis of American Star

At its heart are two extraordinary lovers, separated by tragic circumstances, yearning for each other, yet seemingly never able to be together again.

Jackie Collins’ American Star is a love story for the nineties.

Nick and Lauren can never forget each other. Teenage small-town lovers — he from the wrong side of the tracks, she the prettiest girl in town — their love was the town scandal, forbidden, sizzling and unforgettable, ending abruptly in a tragedy that sent them into separate orbits.

Nick pursues his dream of acting, and after a series of wild adventures begins the slow rise that will make him one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Lauren goes to New York and enters the modeling world, surprising everyone with a career that takes off in a direction she never expected. American Star follows them both on their trips to fame, as Nick and Lauren, haunted by the secret they share, try to live without each other — only to find they can’t.

American Star is a compelling story of love, sex and murder, set against the glamorous backgrounds of New York and Hollywood, as only Jackie Collins!

Jackie creates another memorable story with American Star, a modern version of Romeo and Juliet, only Jackie’s version has a happy ending. Nick has a heart of gold. The problem is that he is from the wrong side of town. Lauren is the girl next door with a seemingly perfect life. Love brings Nick and Lauren together, and circumstances pull them apart, but we find that true love conquers all. A highly readable, poignant love story from the pen of Jackie Collins. Thank you Jackie for another wonderful novel. All the best.

This book is all about you, me and everyone else in the whole world. It is about people who want to have something so much and don’t let yourself to have it! Why, because of our own fear that we could lose everything we have and get nothing instead.

Lauren and Nick wanted to be together all these years, but they didn’t let yourself to do that. Why? Because of the same reason as you don’t let yourself to have your own dream life, or to be who you really want to be. Because if you do, your life will changed completely. Also all of us afraid of big changes even if they are really amazing.

So, what is that book really about? It is about time that we have, about making the right chooses and let be yourself who you want to be, with whom you want to be and where you want to be. The best advice which this book gives me is never too late to have your dream life and you should have what you want right away, and don’t wait years and right time, because it never will be, until you realize that it always the right time!

I’m still reading the book, but as you read the first page, right there and than it gets you into it. I can totally picture everything whats happening. I love books like that, you can see it. Thats why I love Jackie Collins for making books like these. She is an AMAZING woman, she will be remembered forever by the books she makes. Jackie puts her heart into these pages and I thank her for this. Jackie made me think that it doesnt matter where you come from, you can always chase your dream no matter what situation you are in. Also, LOVE conquers everything, doesnt matter who you are, where you come from, what you do, or whatever. There is love in the air and it will find your true love no matter. May take awhile but it will happen for you,me,and anyone. Just got to wait. So THANK YOU Jackie Collin for everything… are the BEST♥♥♥

I’ve read this book twice in the past and decided to re-read it a 3rd time just recently. Its one of those books you always remember and think back about what a wonderful love story it is. I love everything about this book: the characters, the storyline, the love scenes, the passion. Lauren and Nick are such amazing characters, you can really feel their intense love for each other. A movie should definitely be made based on this book. Thank you Jackie Collins for writing such a beautiful modern love story.

I read this book, and I told my son, there was not one page that was not good, you know some books you have to skip pages, not this one, I was looking for more pages at the end. Thank you Jackie, keep these books coming, the more pages the better.

Every book I read by Jackie Collins seems better than the last…but I know this one is by far the best one I have read by her.

I am not usually into a love story, but this one is portrayed so well and I still find myself thinking about it and the characters even though I’ve finished reading it! I feel as if I actually know them and that they are part of my life! I am sad it has come to an end and agree that a sequel should be written or a film made, although I don’t think a film will do it justice the same way Collins writes. This book is a real page turner.
